A transparent publishing framework
Access, rights, stewardship and editorial independence.
Reading access and reuse
Reading access and reuse permissions are distinct. Publicly accessible material is not automatically licensed for unrestricted reuse. Each article must identify its copyright holder and the license actually agreed with the authors. An open-access designation requires an explicit open license; no license is retroactively assigned by this website.
Repositories and versions
The publication agreement should state whether preprints, accepted manuscripts and published versions may be deposited, with any embargo and required citation. Editors must assess disclosed preprints transparently. Version changes should retain dates and links so readers can identify the version of record.
Preservation and continuity
The operating plan should maintain independent backups, content checks and a recovery process. A long-term preservation service and arrangements for closure must be documented before a preservation partnership is advertised. This package includes source files; it does not itself establish a preservation-service membership.
Fees, funding and advertisements
All charges, waiver rules and revenue sources must be disclosed before manuscript processing. Editorial decisions are independent of payment. Advertising, if accepted, must be visibly separated from articles and evaluation. Direct invitations must identify their source, describe the journal accurately and provide a way to decline further contact.
Personal information
Collect only information required for editorial communication, restrict access and define retention periods. Authors should not email participant-level sensitive records. This website uses a language preference in links, with no analytics or account tracking in the delivered code. External reading services operate under their own privacy terms.
